Tbilisi Headquarters

The Tbilisi Office has been in existence since 1994. On 15 November 2000 a new Tbilisi Office was formally opened. It is centrally situated and in the immediate vicinity of the governmental residence of Republic of Georgia.

As of April 2006, there are 15 international and 19 local civilian staff, and a military staff of 3 UNMOs.

The Tbilisi Office is the political head office of the Mission where the SRSG, who is simultaneously Head of the Mission, has her duty station. The meetings of the Coordinating Council, organized in the framework of the Geneva Peace Process, are regularly held in Tbilisi and Sukhumi, under the auspices of this Office. The Office is also responsible for the coordination of the political work with the Georgian government, the Group of the Friends of the Secretary General, the OSCE and the Russian Federation as facilitator.
